This is like Floriduhs last gubernatorial election. Scott, the former healthcare syndicate CEO who avoided prosecution, got back into office because Charlie Crist and others decided they wanted to play in the sandbox all at the same time.
It split the dissenting vote into a bunch of little factions, all far too small to be a threat to Skeletor Scott. Right now, the Republicans have so many potential candidates that are all trying to appeal to various blocks of voters that if the election happened today they wouldn't have anything remotely approaching a majority. Not to mention that The Donald keeps dredging up topics none of the others want to address, keeping them miles away from any sort of meaningful public discussions.
