Strangely the US still manufactures more (based on value of the finished
product) than any other country in the world.
Also considering how "bad the economy is" my commute has been just awful this
fall. We moved to this new office in 2010 and the commute was bad but this year
its worse than ever. Guess all those people with no jobs just head out for
coffee between 8 and 9am.

Sorta skew to the conversation, but here where I live (Johns Island) it
used to be known for the best tomatoes, they were grown here and shipped
all over. Then NAFTA was passed and tomato growing moved to Mexico and
pretty much killed the business here. Florida still grows a lot,
relying on cheap (illegal) labor, which SC does not allow.
