Didn't know there was a slow leak on rear. Knew about one on rt front.
Don't remember age of the tries. Is the receipt in the stack of papers I gave ya? Maybe one for the mounting, too, at Dean's Alignment.

Subject: Re: [MBZ] Leak at rim / tire joint

This tire / wheel came from Wilton's wrecked 300D, he says it had a slow leak from before the accident. It was on the rear axle. Aluminum alloy rim, older Michelin tire. Afraid it may be so old that the tire place won't touch it. I think they draw the line at six years old?

I'll drop it off tomorrow a.m. at a local tire shop to see if they can fix it. Hate to use the fix-a-flat stuff, but that may be an option.

Unusual place to have a spontaneous leak.. Was the tire mounted
recently?
If it was.. likely some damage to the tire bead area.. If it wasn't a
possible suspect could be corrosion of the rim at the bead area..

Aluminum rim? Winter salt area? .. Older tire with stiff dried out
rubber?

Inquiring minds would ask those questions..

Worst case .. aged out tire starts to leak at the rim... SWMBO who
never
looks at tires, drives with low tire.. tire heats up, self destructs..
driver loses control in heavy traffic.. etc etc etc..

My vote is.. 15 bucks at tire shop.. remove tire, inspect rim bead
area..
tire bead area.. DOT date code on tire.. Reassemble with necessary
adjustments to any item not up to service. Sleep good at night..
