Look to Euro hitch makers for "real" class 3 hitches for your cars. Probably
have to do the same for a brake controller. The problem is if you get in an
accident insurance may refuse to pay. Its stupid of course but the price we pay
to be protected from ourselves.
FWIW I've been very happy towing with my 2010 Dodge RAM 1500, it towed my '78
240D 160 miles like it wasn't even there, managed 15mpg doing it.
