I have the same problem. I think the heat softens the adhesive and they just come apart. The butt joint with about 1/2" of tape just doesn't cut it. I have been thinking to put some fiberglass sheetrock mesh tape on the back with some kind of flexible adhesive like shoegoo and see that works.
