Much ado about nothing. All camping lantern mantles were coated with thorium up until the '90s when Coleman switched to yittrium. Don't fear the atom, thorium isn't particularly dangerous as long as you use some basic precautions like not eating it... I burn off mantles outside and try not to inhale the smoke, I wash my hands after handling, basic safety procedures... -Curt
