There will be no difference in power between a 300D and a 300TD. The only difference in repairs is going to be with the hydraulic rear suspension. Bout the only problems with it are the nitrogen spheres go bad after 200k miles or so and it gets bouncy. Also may sag overnight, which could be the valve. The struts themselves really never go bad.
