I'm thinking we might be saying the same thing in different ways. Wouldn't an excessively rich mixture cause high CO?
I'm slowly expanding my knowledge of CIS since buying an '89 VW Cabriolet. :) I had some passing contact with it before, and I like it, but now I'm really digging in to troubleshooting some erratic idle issues.
