I have a friend who has a Master's Degree in Engineering but is not permitted to be a Professional Engineer because he does not have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. He also has a Master's Degree in Botony and I don't know what his undergraduate degree is but he teaches in a college and runs a company on the side that proto-types electronic stuff. A very smart and talented guy. One would think the profession would be proud to claim him as one of their own but they will not.

All too many enginerrors are so full of it as to do this kind of stuff. I have worked with all kinds of engineers, but only the ones with the liability insurance (P.E) ever got snooty. The one that really irked me was when I worked part time in a tiny part of the Univ. It was a one man program. He hired part time students, grad students, and had a few hours of my time a week. As the program grew, he hired another full time guy. I have done all kinds of "engineering" and calculations, but for this program, I didn't do any that I recall. The new guy must have been shown my resume, because a couple weeks into his tenure he made a big point of demeaning me because "I was not an engineer" even though I was currently qualified as a Manufacturing Engineer and Certified Quality Engineer. The only thing I could figure out was that he thought he was far superior because he had a BS from a "college of Engineering" while my degrees were from colleges that did not contain the word "Engineering" in their title within the university. All he had ever done before this gig was work for a railroad, so gather he brought that pecking order along with him.

BULL schnit! Obviously these jerks in OR are cut from the same cloth.
