Somebody has, it was a convertible top pump from, IIRC, a GM car. 

I was thinking that if I ran the pump a bit at startup, the
car would slowly drop during the trip, assuming the control valve
would drop a little pressure every time the rear suspension extended
after a bump. I suppose that wouldn't be a problem on short trips.
Maybe put the pump on a timer, and have it run 30 seconds every time
I start the car or push a button? The factory SLS pump is simple
and reliable, but I do wonder how much power it consumes, or if
a pump problem on the cam driven pump could cost you a timing chain.
