Not really, we require people to take a licensing process before they're 
allowed to drive...
I think a gun safety class should be the other way around, it should be 
compulsory. Gun handling shouldn't but everybody should know that guns can be 
dangerous in the wrong hands and how to handle them safely. 

Of course I also think that everybody should learn how to ride a motorcycle 
too, it makes you a better driver...

Kind of like taking a literacy test and paying your poll tax to vote.
