On the W115 the switch is on the side of the transmission where the shift rod goes in.
Cheap and cheerful fix is to pull the plug and stuff a wire in to jump the connection, but that will prevent the backup lights from working. I don't know where the other connectors are. On that car, you would have to pull the console to get to much of the harness, and I don't recommend that, you will very likely break things that cannot be replaced.
