the legendary longevity of the engines? I'm glad that I have a manual
tranny, but the wife is enamored with the Coupes since we checked that one

They're pretty bullet-proof. Most problems stem from vacuum and adjustment issues. The venerable B2 piston, K1 and K2 valve body spring kits. They usually stand-up to a long hard life.
