I assume you are referring to that big diesel rig. He probably bought
it at a base auction around here somewhere and is now flipping it. $3k
seems a decent price, but it is a bit more than I need for now, unless I
want to hook it into the house.

It’s an Onan 7.5 DJC. It’s the 240D of generators. No electronics, purely
mechanical and relay. I’ve seen these with 10,000 hours on them without a
rebuild. Truly a cockroach generator if there ever was one. Thousands were
sold to municipalities under the Civil Defense program in the 1960s.
It’s missing a muffler from what I can tell, unless there’s a little pepper pot
under that sheet metal. The exhaust manifold is directly behind those louvers,
so the exhaust is going up then making a right angle out the side of that sheet
metal box.
