In Indiana it was based on value as well - essentially the actual
value or book value, whichever is higher, of course. I think the
rolloff was 10 years, but I’m not sure.
Here in FL registration is about $50-$70/year depending on weight
regardless of value. The problem with having a late model “spare” car
is the cost of insurance. If it wasn’t for my stuff being older and
having a Hagerty policy on it I couldn’t do it, as the cost would be
no different from all my other cars.
