I can't picture the perp getting to go home after I had to draw down on him. 
Hopefully the situation would entail the perp going to the slammer and me going 
home. But yeah, a much better outcome than a dead or seriously injured perp and 
me having to defend my actions. Much better to expend some carefully aligned 
photons than a chunk of lead.

thinking too that lighting up your target might make the target reappraise his 
life choices at that moment, unless completely zonked out.  That would be a 
best-case scenario, defuse the situation with a laser blast and everyone goes 
home or wherever.
