I had a Kiwi roommate who was full of all kinds of strange sayings. At some point I said, "I'm off" and he says, "Must be the hot weather." The time being winter I had no idea what he was talking about. So later I asked him and he said it related to milk in hot weather going "off" and the saying came from some Kiwi TV show or something.

I think the Kiwis are somewhat weirder than Brits.

You've got to be off to do this kind of thing

That is like the line from MASH where Col Flagg (?) says, "Well, I'm
off" and Hawkeye says, "I couldn't have said it better" (or something
at least similar to that.)
Mine came from a Beetle Bailey cartoon where the general was walking out
the door and told his wife, "I'm off to play golf." In the next frame he
is teeing up and comments, "You've got to be off to do this kind of
thing."
