The moon REVOLVES about the earth (and the earth REVOLVES about the sun), the moon and earth ROTATE about their axes (and the moon is rotation-locked to the earth so it always presents the same face to the earth).

And actually earth rotation speed is about 1000mph (24 hours, 24000mi circumference).

The Earth rotates at about 1700 mph at the equator, the moon orbits at
around 3400 mph in the same direction, so slightly faster, so the shadow
passes from west to east.

Do the sun and moon rotate in different directions around the planet?
The sun in this neighborhood rises in the east and sets in the west.
The moon also rises in the east and sets in the west?
Why did the eclipse totality go from west to east?
