Hi Dwight,
Yeah, ours sound very similar. I'm the 2nd owner (if you don't count the car dealer that bought it at auction) and so far I couldn't be happier. I had an initial cold start problem which I suspect was probably a fuel quality issue. I've changed both fuel filters and added some biocide along with plenty of fresh fuel.

About the color of mine - it's a metallic bluish-silver - if that makes any sense ;-) mostly it's blue, but not a dark blue. I'll have to look thru my color charts to see what it's called.

Drove it to Williamsburg and back this morning (about 150miles total)- a beautiful day for a drive, 72F and sunny - the 300D ran perfectly and I really like the climate control system! Of course, I haven't had to do any work to the automatic part of it - hopefully I won;t for a long time. ;-)

BTW, bought the Biocide from West Marine - made by CRC I got 3 bottles for ~$7 each. Ordered it Thurs and it arrived Wednesday...

Larry,
That sounds about right. I have about 8k in my recently acquired 30D 2.5
t. Low miles, southern car, mint body & interior, two owners, etc. Some
of these have been going for 10K recently on e-bay. I think you'll love
driving it. BTW-what color is it? Is it white? Many of these seem to be.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the asking price of the W124 '91 300D 2.5

Turbo that I just bought was $9900 and I offered $8K which he accepted.
Bought it from a wholesaler who had this car for 44 days - I'm told they

like to move their cars more often than that - I think he was dealing
because he'd had it for a while. I'm in love with this car and only
like it
more and more - I haven't found any significant problems except for an
intermittant cold starting problem (happened 2 times in 3 weeks) which I

contribute to a lack of being driven regularily. Since filling with
fresh
fuel the problem seems to be gone (knock wood). The seller put 1/4 tank
in
before I picked it up and I'm not aware of any stations in his area that

gets a lot of diesel traffic - so the fuel may have been 'off'.

Hi Rick.
I bought my '91 300D about 3 weeks ago (2/17 IIRC) - it had ~99K
miles
and
is in excellent condition. My other MB is a '78 240D with 286k miles
and
the difference that 13 years of constant improvement to diesel engines
is
nothing short of phenomenal! It's *much * quieter, *much* faster and

more
luxurious. Bought it for my wife to drive but I hate letting it go
;-) I
*love* driving it! Hearing the turbo roar and feeling it press me
back in
the seat is addictive! Going back to the 240D is gonna be tough!

Hi All,
I know several of you (us) have bought 124 diesels recently. Sunil
and OK Don come to mind. How much did you guys pay? I am going to
check out a 1992 300D tomorrow.

Also, is there any cure for this disease? I mean, I already have two
kinda
rare diesels, why do I still want MORE? Will it subside? How many is
ENOUGH? Am I asking the wrong bunch of people? If I get this car,
will I
STILL have to have a w126 and a 300TD wagon to round things out?

Enough already........
