Hi folks,

Hope you are all doing well!

My eldest has fixed the freeze plug using a pair of cold chisels and a
bit of steel pipe on the 300SDL's 603, so now we need to button up the
engine. However:
1) the intake manifold has been off for a long time (5 years?) and
probably had water, dirt, bugs around. Son vacuumed out and ran a rag
around the air intakes in the block. Do we need to make sure they are
spotless, or is lack of obvious contamination enough? Suggestions for
more effective cleaning methods?

2) the stop lever is stuck down. Maybe it is just seized, but I may
also have smashed it down while removing the intake. Did I break
something in the IP, or the lever itself? Should I try to cajole it
up?

3) I recall to turn the engine over a few times by hand, once
everything is assembled. Given the stop lever I will also keep a 2x4
handy and make sure fuel is at the injectors. Anything else?

It's nice to be behind a wrench again, even if only by proxy! Thanks
for any advice!
-Tim
