Maybe recently but for a couple decades if you wanted a boring toaster of a car you bought a Camry or for something slightly "sporty" an Accord. The Prius is more for those who want a smug toaster... A guy I work with has a Prius and drives from San Diego to LA for work, thats like 100 miles each way. He groans when I point out a Jetta TDI would get better mileage since most of that distance he's cruising on the highway. The only time the Prius would do better is sitting in traffic... -Curt
