OK thanks all, leather dye it is.  I'll order a bottle or maybe the local hobby store has it, but that is a lot harder than the River of Aggressive Wymyn

From a long time ago, Dye will soak into the leather because it has a lot of light volatiles to carry the color into the leather but shoe polish has a lot of wax that holds the color on top where with little penetration into the leather it will come off on your clothes.

The SL600 has a bit of wear on the driver bolster where you slide in and out, getting kinda white.  I was thinking that some liquid black shoe polish might touch it up.

The vinyl door top part where you rest your arm is also a bit worn, was thinking that the shoe polish would probably work on that too.

I looked up leather dye, not sure how it would be radically different from the shoe polish.  Plus a small bottle is $7 and I have some of the shoe polish I think.  The shoe stuff probably would not be a "perfect" match but it would probably not be particularly noticeable.  I guess I could try a dab with a swab to see how it works and looks.

Thoughts?
