That's frustrating. This channel was a concern, the aftermarket glass that I just replaced had a channel that separated from the glass shortly after installation. Very frustrating, could never get the rubber strip to lay down and hold.
Rich and I worked pretty hard to remove the windshield intact, I'm very happy that I was able to reuse it.
