I pulled off the electrical connector (easy on the ML, fair amount of room to work in there) and there was a lot of fluid in there.  I sopped up what I could up in the transmission hole where the connectors are, coming off the conductor plate it looks like. I sprayed contact cleaner in there too but it seems to keep leaking out fluid and it is not particularly clean either.  I'm wondering if this guy I bought it from actually changed the conductor plate like he said.  I'm not quite sure why it would keep leaking.  Looking at pics of the conductor plate I don't see how it seals up against the transmission body where it goes out the hole, there don't appear to be any orings in there.

Any thoughts on why it is leaking out the transmission hole?  Are the o-rings in the connector (I have a new one but the old one looked OK) what keeps things from leaking?

I don't think it wicked up the wires but I will pull the TCU and look at it too after I sort this aspect out.

The fluid looked dirty and nasty, I'm wondering if I should just drop the pan and drain out the fluid and pulled the valve body and take a look at the conductor plate and see exactly what is going on?  I see new ones plus filter, gasket and connector for $80 on Amazon, some generic part I am thinking but since there are so many of these things out there I guess it would be OK.  Although I do have a filter and connector already, just the conductor plate is only $7 less.
