Will it shake itself to death running 2 cyl that are 180o offset on the crank?
There will be some compression on the air cyl, and no resistance on the 4th cyl.
I'm thinking 1 & 4 for power, and 2 or 3 for air. The IP? I'll route the
injector line into a tee at the cigar hose.

Unbalance the engine like that and you'll have oil coming out of the crank seals at both ends of the engine within 100 hours. The reason the injectors MUST be balanced within about 3 bar is so the power from EACH cylinder is equal. Unless they are, the engine will jiggle and there's even the chance of the crank snapping (I expect that's remote). It's that kind of imbalance that causes crank seals to leak in most diesels. Whenever you find a leaking crank seal in a Mercedes diesel engine with less than half a million miles on it, the engine has been out of balance for a while.
