Does "9hp" = 9hp, or is it like the lawn mowers that make some fraction
of the rated hp if you run them with mufflers and air filters?
At any rate, I've seen bigger engines on log splitters.
If doing real digging, like excavating for a foundation, the engine on a
50hp tractor/loader/backhoe grunts pretty hard sometimes when doing that
work.
