The small impact is waaaay better for driving screws than a drill, especially
for Phillips head.I use mine a lot for light mechanicing too. Especially
switching Dad's lawn tractor from mower to snowblower. It's got a spring assist
on the lift and dialing the tension on the spring takes forever with a wrench,
it's easy peasy with that little impact.

I bought a set much like this in Milwaukee tools last summer when we bought
the house in Flagstaff. I think I got a drill, impact, charger and two 2A
batteries. Since then I’ve purchased the SawZall, leaf blower and a 5A battery.
The little batteries work for some time with the drill and SawZall, but the
leaf blower sucks them dry in a minute or two, which is why I bought the larger
battery. Even it gets drawn down in less than 10 minutes on the leaf blower if
it’s running on the “Hi” setting.

I’ve never tried the impact, as I’ve not had any reason to. I’ll probably be
building a small set of stairs in the near future for (yard) access to the deck
in the back of house, so I can put it to use running lag bolts and see how it
does.

Last year when I bought my drill/driver set they had a deal where if you bought
the most expensive/powerful set they had you got a 5ah battery for "free". It
was actually a pretty good deal, the addition of the battery made the whole
deal cost less than the mid-range set.

When we were building the bridge a couple weeks ago my 1/4" impact driver was
the most powerful one on the bridge. We were running 8" timberlocks.
everybody's driver would drive them but only mine would counter-sink them. Mine
would drive them so far it was hard to get the driver bit back out of the hole.
It was actually more powerful than the 3/8" Dewalt driver somebody else had.

My 1/2" impact gun was also more powerful than any of the others we had out
that day. It was another inadvertent purchase, that was a father's day deal
where "because reasons" the most powerful 1/2" drive unit was cheaper than the
less powerful one. It's heavy but it'll sure rattle some bolts. We used that to
drive 12" lags through a 6x6 into a 6x8 to hold the railing uprights.

They’re doing their annual “buy a kit” of tools and get another tool or some
other related swag. I try to do these with Milwaukee M18 stuff and can never
find stock on them when the time comes.

Good deal when you can get it.
