In the past I have noticed on the 99 E300 when its cooler outside, when
I pull out of the driveway and get to the stop sign a mile down the
road, sometimes it will not start off in 1st, it starts in 2nd then
kicks down to first after you start moving, then shifts normal. Will
seem to do this first start of the day. When temps is warmer it does not
do this. This morning, it was 15 and shifted fine when pulling out of
the driveway. When I pulled out onto the highway it seemed like it was
starting off in 2nd or 3rd and would not upshift. While moving, if I
shifted it to neutral then back to drive, it would fall back into 5th.
While moving if it downshifted it should upshift fine. Stop and the
process starts all over. After a drove to my destination an hour later,
then left, it was fine after that. I should have tried restarting it
earlier to see if it cleared. It seemed like it was in some sort of
partial limp mode. Any thoughts?
