Do you have a scanner or STAR? Put it on the car while you go through that routine and watch the transmission commanded and actual gears, shift points, trans temp, RPMs, speed, and whatever other real-time data you can see. You might be able to save a file that you can then go back and study.
I’m guessing there is some temperature-dependent shifting the TCM is doing to warm the car up for emissions or something. Have you changed the WS setting to see if that makes a difference?
