People with slide rules understand, intuitively, that when you attempt to calculate the weight of a hummingbird, a result of 158.9572456 pounds is NOT a good answer! Most kids these days will carefully copy out every digit the calculator spews at them, with no thought whatsoever. I have my father's slide rule. Also my mother's.
