Mine seems to be holding up and getting enough photons, it is under a
small overhang and doesn't really get a lot of sun anyway but it does
OK. The mount is crap but I got it tight enough after some fiddling,
and turned the ball track almost horizontal so it doesn't have ED anymore.
I have got a couple of alerts at night, it looks like a swarm of some
kind of insects that triggered it, they are maybe attracted to the IR
light or something, I don't know if it is even shining when it is
quiet. Takes some pretty good night vids though.

I haven’t had sunlight issues with any of mine, but I will say the mount leaves
a lot to be desired. The new one I put on the front of the house had to be
retightened as it “drooped” slowly over a number of hours. Once i tightened it
with a set of channelocks it was fine, but being plastic I was reluctant to do
so.

I think I might need to move one of mine as I don’t think it’s getting enough
sun. I have not checked it this morning but as of yesterday it’s at around 87%
where the rest are at or around 100 most of the time. I thought it was in a
good spot but after watching it, it seems to only get a couple of hours of full
sun. I think the roof overhang is too much.
I have also noticed my front door one has slowly dropped a bit. Not a whole lot
but I can tell i can see about a foot more of the corner of the porch compared
to a couple of weeks ago.

For those who have been following the solar security camera discussion, I’ve
got a support experience with these folks to share:
When I was clearing some stuff from the gutters last week I noticed that there
was a thin film of something on the solar panel of the camera that covers my
front door. It’s been in service for over a year, and is the first S40 solar
camera I bought. It didn’t appear to be anything catastrophic, just some sort
of coating on the panel that was peeling off.
I opened a support ticket with them about this late on Friday. I got a response
this morning, telling me that they had reviewed the issue and found that it
would not affect the camera, but they would send me a replacement anyway if I
wanted.
I wasn’t really worried about what I found, but I figured if they want to give
me a replacement, I’ll take it.
