I replace the PS fluid (Mobil 1 ATF on our older cars) thats in the resevoir every oil change and the filter once a year. My 190D didn't look like the filter had been changed in eons when I did it in February so I'm contemplating doing it again at the next oil change. I'll pull it and see if it looks gross, if it is I'll change it. When I did the fluid at the last oil change it looked more like barbeque sauce than ATF. On my PS leak, I checked the fluid last night and it was still topped up. I poked at the hoses I could see from topside and they didn't appear to be leaking. Nevertheless I'll give the lowpressure side a little tightening when I replace the secondary fuel filter this weekend. -Curt '85 190D "Dory" 241kmi Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2006 14:42:35 -0700 From: Chuck Landenberger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] P/S Filter ?? 85 300SD To: Mercedes Discussion List <Mercedes@okiebenz.com> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed
George, You'll find that filter (like a small donut) at the bottom of the power steering pump. Don't know change interval, but they're rather cheap and once a year would seem sensible. The knowledgeable listers will chime in I'm sure. Take care, Chuck --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Next-gen email? Have it all with the all-new Yahoo! Mail Beta. I've used the official Mercedes runny gasket seal in the past, but I can't recall whether it worked well or not. Anyone else used the Mercedes stuff to seal an old W123 front or rear window gasket? ...Kevin 87 300TD 284k mi 79 240D 158k mi
