The only issue I see with this approach is true with any NLA parts. You have to assume they've been sitting on a shelf somewhere, maybe not properly stored. Now a hard part like a metal or plastic part might not matter, but something that's rubber will deteriorate over time no matter what.
I would rather take on the added cost of buying a few (or many) for a few bucks to meet a minimum and get a new part rather than risk the possibility of getting something that might not be in good shape and won't last long. That and just throw the number into Google with the name "Mercedes".
