Reminds me of a story told by my brother in law. He and a friend went on a
fishing trip up north with lots of gear.
Two trucks - one to pull the boat and another to pull the camper trailer. On
the way back, the alternator died in
the Dodge truck. They needed to drive all night to get home for work. They had
a little generator and a battery
charger as they had an electric trolling motor on the boat and they needed to
charge the battery for it. They put
the generator in the boat and ran the extension cord up the trailer tongue and
into the underhood area - plugged
the battery charger into the cord and connected the clips to the battery. Came
home a couple of hundred miles like
that in the dark. Brian said he turned the headlights off whenever he could to
reduce the draw on the battery and
would turn them on again if he saw another vehicle coming. A pretty barren road
however so not much traffic.
