Thanks I will rig up a light to check the pump ,the cut off is sharp like switch off so any pointers towards ignition?

Well there are two options, it is either electrical or fuel related. Usally if it is fuel there will be a bit of rough running before shut down whereas electrical is like flicking a switch, one second it is running good and then
it is dead.
You may be able to wire up a test light to your fuel pump to see if there is the problem, there have been fuel pump relays that get wonky. If you are not
sure you are best off to get an auto electrician to help out.
Another trick to determine the source of your problems is to introduce a
flammable substance while your engine is not doing as it should, can't
remember right now which of the aerosols is recommended for this purpose, I
have always used a little bit of fuel for this purpose but others have
recommended that an aerosol with flammable substance does this job nicely.
If the engine fires straight away with the introduction of said flammable
substance then you know it is fuel delivery where your troubles are.
As Marshall might say, how are your fuses?

After the  first  stalling   I had cleaned out the ICV as well as  the
throttle plate, the engine  idled smoothly .

Today I had a rerun of the engine cutting out  abruptly while driving  .
It
restarted eventually and I assume it is a ignition failure of some sort
when
the engine has been run some distance.
most of the consumables on the ignition and fuel are fairly new replaced
last year.
input will be most appriciated
