Lexus ain't saving anybody any money when it comes to service. My wife
took her RX330 in for a wash and they noticed it was time for an oil
change. $140 later, they hade changed the oil and looked over a few
other things. Mercedes charges more than that? Told my wife I'd do it
for half that from now on. She was not amused.

When I mentioned to the service write later that that was absurd for
an oil change, he mentioned that I was free to bring in my own oil,
and not pay their $4.50/quart for dino oil I could get at Walmart for
$1.29. Guess Lexus (and new MBs) are targetting a little different
level of consumer than me...

Oh, I have no problem with Mercedes but I have friends & family who have
sworn to never buy another because the lowest service (including brakes)
they paid was $550.00. I understand that Mercedes does a great job & that
regular service is the key but that does not keep them from buying a Lexus
the next time around.

I'm a great Mercedes fan & will always drive one but Mercedes needs to learn
a few lessons from the competition........
