Reminds me of the cover photo on a 70's Road&Track. There, crossing the Golden Gate, was a '59 Chev Impala with the body placed backwards on the chassis. For all the world it looked like it was being driven against the traffic, until you looked inside and saw the driver sitting in the left front looking out over the trunk lid . A real show (or traffic) stopper --
Reminds _me_ of a mid-80s Car & Driver project, back when that magazine was a lot more interesting---they put a second engine behind the seats of a Honda CRX driving the back wheels through a second transaxle (linked to the same shifter). IIRC, the install was pretty tidy---the rear engine was hidden under a cover, a custom gauge panel in the center console kept track of its vital signs, and the ignition switch was wired with a relay and timer to start the engines sequentially when turned (so as not to strain the single battery and integrated electrical system, I suppose). Sounds like an April Fool's joke, but apparently the thing ran and drove just fine, though without much room for cargo! Alex Chamberlain '87 300D Turbo '93 Isuzu Trooper
