Possible but quite rare in an engine with less than 400-500kmi on it. It started cold at least once and that suggests compression on SOME cylinders. Later OM61x engines rarely wear out before half a million miles, but the DO break. Now if it had a couple of cracked rings from playing with starter fluid....
