The old 911 needs the heavier M1 - 15W50 preferably. 0W40 works for
'90-present but before that the tolerances are just not tight enough. The
M1 website recommends 0W40 for all the Porsches regardless of year.

I know you all hate oil threads but sorry I just have to pass this on.
I was at Costco today and they had M1 15W-50 on the shelf. $30 for 6
quart boxes. This was the recently re-released non-extended life stuff.
