Hybrids get great milage in stop and go driving, where the regenerative braking keeps the battery charged up. I95 between Richmond and Balitmore, for example.

Open highway, they get less than the similar sized non-hybrids because they weigh more.

Great if you do the standard slow commute, it would be stupid for me to get one (all open road with occasional stops). I'm doing OK with the 87 300d (29.5 to 33 mpg, depending on fuel).
