No, I have never retracted a bid. This particular idea is based on processing time for something that you really want that you can't get reasonably otherwise. The particular item I was buying usually sold for $50 - $75, and I wanted it now. New was well over $100. I stayed in the bidding [so I wouldn't have to renew my identity more than minimally]. I was near the top bidder anyway, so I just waited until the last 10 - 15 seconds and bid what would have been a moderately high price for a new one. There were two other 'snipes' of $5 over current high bid that came in after mine, but the time expired before any more than two bids could be processed. I would have been upset at having to pay $150 for it, but was prepared to accept that if someone else was doing the same thing I was. Something I rarely do, but have only been beaten on once. I was bidding on an item for my Benz that often sold for $40 - $70. I bid too early though and upped the bid about 45 seconds early. That 'early' bid let someone else do the same thing to me - he ended up paying about $115 for an item he was planning to get for $50, which was the bid 60 seconds from the end of the auction. Worth it to him I suppose, and a lesson for me. Rather than bid in $5 increments as most do he upped his bid by $50 twice [I think] I never deviate from the rules, and usually have paid for the item within a minute of winning it. Bill

Do you retract your bid or something? Brian Bill wrote: Another 'sneaky' way is to way overbid in the last 10 seconds [I bid $150 on a $50 item in the last few seconds. That ended up costing me about an extra $10 before the bidding was over - but it was for something that was worth it to me. That will usually work - but someone could fool you by doing the same thing and cost you a lot of money. Do it carefully. _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
