FYI long term use (like years and 30,000+ miles) slowed the rear main seal leak
on my '96 Dodge Dakota (210,000 miles and still kickin).
It was to about 1 qt in 500 miles and now (uhh 5 years and probably 100,000
miles later) its more like 1 qt in 2500 miles or more (mileage not quarts).

Mobil 1 10w30, changed every time I remember, probably 8,000 or so miles.

Take a look here, http://www.auto-rx.com/. They claim to do what you
 want
and I have some to try on a Toyota pickup. I am going to see if it
 will
stop or slow down a front seal leak.
