This is called exposure, done to ensure that as many people as possible look at the ad in the hope that someone will buy the crap you are selling, even though they didn't want it. For example if you where to sell a Merc, it would pay to put in keywords that others may be looking for like, luxury four door, V8 powered, auto climate control, low mileage, prestige, limousine, sunroof, etc. Then someone looking for a fancy car will see your ad and go hmmnh that looks nice, I might buy that. Of course you being the fine word smith you are would do this tastefully and not crudely like others do.
