You sure make it sound like a better car! Once the new t-stat is installed, and operating temp goes up, it should run better and quieter. Not only that, it will burn all of the carbon out and it'll get better MPG. A Diesel Purge will help quite a bit too. Hopefully, the engine hasn't suffered too much wear to be relatively reliable again.
