Don't you begin to expect that used fryer oil may become quite dear as well? I 
don't think I want to plan to rely
upon that sort of thing. There is a limited supply and soon will be lots of 
people that want it. The fellow on the
forum that has a number of restaurants has that to his advantage. If one had a 
ready supply then it might be a
plan.

I think the major disadvantage of the wood fired boiler on a boat would be the 
amount of space needed for the wood
pile and the amount of time it might take to get a fire going and steam 
pressure up so that the boat would move.

Another issue, might be heat as I generally only use the boat in fairly warm 
weather. Would be nice to have heat in
spring and fall though.
