I know I posted the story of the fellow who got way more than the
first offer for a VW Westie Syncro a couple of times over the
years, but my emails on this computer don't go back that far, and
I failed the last time I tried to Google it. 
In short, they owe you what it would cost, with tax, to replace
it at retail. You need expert testimony, printouts from eBay
that actually sold for a higher price, possibly an independent
appraiser....
