Just too expensive to install right now. My cost would be $25K or more as I would have to drill deep and that means drilling rock and is more expensive. If I had lots of land it would be no problem but on a small city lot there just is not sufficient room. They tell me I would need something like 15 to 20 holes 50 feet deep spread at least 10 feet apart and I just don't have that much room. I would never likely save enough to make it pay back at current rates. It would take 10 years or more and by the end of that time I understand I might be facing renewal or replacement of at least some of the equipment so it just does not quite work. If I had acres, I could dig trenches and lay in a loop. My aunt and uncle did that 20 years ago and have been very happy with it. They have replaced the heat exchanger once already.
