You don't need to replace the HEAD, you need to pull it off and put  
on a new HEAD GASKET, an entirely different animal.  Manifolds stay  
on, so it's pretty easy with a hoist EXCEPT for the stinking bracket  
under the intake, can only be reached from the bottom.

Don't break the chain guide, you will have to remove the front  
cover.  Get a new boot for the air flow meter horn, new idle control  
valve hoses, and new injector and injector sleeve seals and do all  
this at once -- it will run as well as it did new if you do.

You may need to do valves if the engine has excessive oil consumption  
though. Shouldn't be a problem on a 92, they fixed the bad valve  
guides by then.
