you need to install QTP on each machine (doesn't matter real or VM)
there QTP record and replay functionality is needed.
naturally, you'll need to buy corresponding number of licenses.

thus, you cannot use your host's QTP instance to record actions on VM
console.
To record within VM - install QTP there.
