At the risk of over-simplifying, I offer this suggestion: At QTP Start Up,
make sure the .NET and WEB Add-Ins are selected and nothing else.

Hi everyone.

New to QTP, and am attempting to automate an app that uses a .NET
custom object developed by DevComponents, the DotNetBar suite.
Particularly the Ribbon.

I am having great difficulties in the discovery process. Most objects
cannot be seen, that is objects inside a "chunk" cannot be found. I
have managed to get a handle on the Ribbon and get to the Tabs, but
cannot switch them.
None of the available samples or discussion boards seem to have
addressed this. I have taken the time to review a couple of pages
about testing .Net custom objects, but the material seems infective. I
would love to hear from someone who has dealt with this problem.

Now since I haven't been able to get control through the object
interfaces, I have tried simple recording, and my dang app closes when
I try to open a file. It just silently bails! If anyone has seen that
I'd love to hear from them too!

In the mean time I'm going to try Analog low level recording, argh.
will see if that works....

Thanks in advance

Gibson
